About the Unkya Community Reserve

The Unkya Community Reserve is a unique, picturesque and fully functional public reserve situated in the middle of the two villages of Eungai at the southern end of Nambucca Shire.

The Reserve is managed by the Unkya Reserve Management Committee (Section 355 Committee) – which is a voluntary organisation made up of local, community minded people who volunteer their time and expertise. The committee is responsible for the management of ‘Unkya Reserve’ on behalf of Nambucca Shire Council.

The philosophy of the committee is to provide a meeting place for building a strong and vibrant community.

The committee’s focus is to develop and improve this beautiful reserve to be a more widely functional space for all in the community to appreciate and utilise.  Whether it be a stop off for a picnic lunch under the trees, a sports event, a private gathering, or to practice your golf swing…Unkya Reserve lends itself for many uses.

Our Responsibilities

The responsibility of the committee is to:-

1. maintain, improve and protect the grounds and buildings of Unkya Reserve
2. raise funds to help with the long and short term upkeep of the reserve
3. manage and regulate the use and availability of the Reserve to the public for community use

How to use and hire the grounds and facilities

Use and hire of the facilities are available to community or private groups and individuals upon application to the ‘Unkya Reserve Management Committee’.

These fees apply:

1. The Hourly rate for hire is $10.00 per hour (this fee applicable for 1 – 10 hours)
2. A 24 hour hire fee to be negotiated with Unkya Reserve Committee.
3. A $200.00 bond is payable with hire of the Reserve and Canteen
4. Other fees for special events available on application to Committee of Management.
5. Annual Membership fees for interested groups available on request.
6. Exemption of fees may apply under certain conditions. i.e nonprofit community groups.

Our legal status

A section 355 Committee is a committee of residents/ratepayers which is appointed by Council and who takes responsibility for the care, control and management of a particular asset or function which would normally be a duty of Council.

The volunteer assistance of committee members is highly valued by Council.

The Unkya Reserve Committee are obliged to adhere to the rules and regulations as set out in the Nambucca Shire Council
